Some apps I just can’t stop opening every day. Okay, I’m not talking about Talabat or Zomato although I do check them daily for a bit of window shopping, more like opening the fridge, hoping something new has magically appeared since the last time. But the apps that I actually check every single day? Reddit, Spotify and Pinterest. Each for a completely different reason, yet somehow all sneak their way into my brain daily.
Pinterest – The “I’ll try this someday… maybe” app
Pinterest is like that friend who shows up with a million ideas and makes you feel slightly inadequate but in a fun way.
I scroll through perfectly organized boards full of recipes, home décor, photography ideas, motivational books, vision boards, pet activities, workout tips… you name it. “Yes, I’ll totally do that someday”. …and then I close the app, glance around my living room, and accept that bringing all those Pinterest ideas to life would take a superhero, not me. But hey, inspiration counts too, right?
On a serious note…Pinterest’s algorithm curates content based on your interests, so the more you use it, the smarter it becomes at showing ideas that actually matter to you. Whatever your interests are its filled with inspiration in the best (OCD for organizing) way. It is simple, practical and surprisingly powerful tool.
- Create Boards for Everything – Make separate boards for all your interests so ideas stay organized.
- Save Pins You Love – Click save on anything that inspires you to build your personal library.
- Search for Specific Ideas – Type what you’re looking for and find thousands of options instantly.
- Follow People or Boards You Like – Your feed will show more of what actually matches your taste.
- Use It for Planning – Organize projects, photo ideas, or experiments all in one visual space.
- Showcase Your Work – If you’re an author, artist, or run a business, Pinterest is a great way to share your work and reach people visually. You can get viral here.
So yes, Pinterest is basically a happy place full of ideas and inspiration, and there’s just the right amount of chaos to make me feel productive without actually doing anything.
Reddit – The “First Place for Info You Didn’t Ask For” App
Reddit is basically the app version of accidentally stepping in to a maze of endless information thats all connected to each other some how. One minute I’m looking up “Which cafes in Dubai allow pets?” the next I’m deep in a 10 year-old debate about whether cats are secretly plotting world domination by 2036.
Even with all the chaos, Reddit is great for finding useful advice, hidden gems, and things you wouldn’t see anywhere else
Reddit Features That Make You Lose Track of Time
- Communities (Subreddits) – Groups for every interest imaginable, from cats to coding to cooking.
- Karma Points – Upvotes and downvotes that show how much people like your posts and comments.
- AMA (Ask Me Anything) – A chance to ask questions directly to celebrities, experts, or random interesting people.
- Upvotes & Downvotes – Decide what content rises to the top or sinks to the bottom.
- Threads & Comments – Follow discussions and join conversations on any topic.
- Multireddits – Combine multiple subreddits into one feed for easy browsing.
- Saved Posts – Keep posts you like for later reference or inspiration.
- Polls – Ask questions and see how the community votes.
- Awards – Give virtual awards to posts or comments you love.
- Search Function – Find threads, posts, or subreddits about anything.
Have you noticed that after the latest AI overview update, Google now shows Reddit results first, like Google itself is saying, ‘If you can’t find it here, you can’t find it anywhere else.
You want real opinions? Ask the people. Interesting isn’t it ? So it seems like Google is giving Reddit higher priority than other blogs or informational websites now probably because it’s full of real people sharing real opinions.
Real people matter because their answers are based on actual experience and for me, that means I get advice, tips, and insights I can actually use, like learning how to train your pet tarantula to do a backflip, and honestly, I’m kind of tempted to try it.
Spotify – The “Daily Dose of Other People Talking
I use Spotify for podcasts more than for music (for music, there’s YouTube Music Premium). One minute I’m listening to a heated debate on current affairs, sometimes it’s Mel Robbins convincing me to wake up at 5 a.m., and other times it’s a fictional thriller podcast that makes every creak in my house feel like it’s happening in real time thanks to my surround sound earbuds. At times, it honestly feels like I’m eavesdropping on conversations between friends without their permission.
Spotify basically puts motivation, history, crime, thriller, music, and many more in your pocket. It’s super useful for me because I can listen to short podcasts while walking Pluto, cooking, or basically anytime I want a little entertainment or to feed my curiosity and then there’s a daily supply of information and laughs to keep me hooked

At the end of the day, these three apps each have their own magic. Pinterest showers me with brilliant and creative ideas, Reddit satisfies my need to know things… sometimes even things I didn’t ask about.Spotify keeps me company with voices that educate, motivate, or just make me laugh.
So yes, I might scroll, listen, and explore a little too much but with apps like Pinterest, Reddit, and Spotify, I feel like I’m actually using technology the right way: to learn, laugh, and keep life a little more interesting

Crisp!
